TWINS Flynn and Riley Penman are looking forward to making new friends as they start Prep at Clifton Springs Primary School.

The five-year-olds moved from Canberra in the lead-up to the start of their school journey, but say they now enjoy living near the beach.

Flynn said he wants to be a policeman when he grows up, while his sister wants to be a mermaid.

Principal Meg Parker said Flynn and Riley were among about 70 Preps starting the year at Clifton Springs Primary School, along with 470 pupils all up.

“We’ve been off to a great start and the children have been really keen to come back,” Mrs Parker said.

“It feels so different compared to last year, but we are all excited to be back.”

Mrs Parker said the children were more independent and confident, which was one of the benefits that came out of last year.

“The kids are happy to be back at school,” she said.

“All the teachers are happy to be back and the parents are busting to be involved with the school community this year.”
