LEOPOLD Cricket Club is calling on members past and present to help celebrate their 70th birthday next month.

Held on Saturday February 2, the event hopes to attract people from over the years to join in for what will be a fantastic evening of fun and reminiscing.

President Darren Barmby said the club would announce its greatest team of the first 70 years (1948 – 2018) on the night, and share some insight into a hardcover book that will be launched at this year’s presentation night in celebration of the first 70 years of the club.

“On behalf of the current executive and committee I would like to personally invite you to join us for our 70th birthday celebration on Saturday February 2 at the newly renovated club rooms,” Mr Barmby said.

“Whether you are still an active member of the club or have been involved along the journey in some way, we would really love for you to join us on this special occasion to catch up with old friends and to reminisce on great times and friendships.”

The event will include a fully catered roast meal provided by Coast to Coast Golden Roasts, and music and entertainment will be provided by the mastermind behind the successful Geelong Piano Bar venue, Andy Pobjoy.

“Who would of thought that when Mac Mason and Harry Howard began this journey at Keith Filbay’s home so many years ago that we would have the wonderful club and history that we have today,” he said.

The night will also include a Q&A session with past greats and a silent auction.

Tickets for Leopold Cricket Club’s 70th birthday celebrations at Leopold Cricket Club, Melaluka Road, cost $35 per head, with drinks at bar prices. Bookings are essential by Friday January 25.
