Community supports Free a Girl cause

August 1, 2019 BY

Attendees enjoyed a discussion on mindful parenting and raising healthy families as well as a full yoga session.

A FUNDRAISER in Ocean Grove at the weekend raised $600 for the Free a Girl Foundation.

Free a Girl is an international foundation dedicated to rescuing minor girls from commercial sexual exploitation, empowering girls and combating impunity.

Yoga teacher Tara Lynch said about 45 people attended the event, which commenced with a discussion about the charity, community and wellness by Suzie Forbes, a local OT and mother.

“Suzie set up a panel of local women who discussed wellbeing and parenting,” Ms Lynch said.

“We followed this with a yoga class and live music by Ally Stinger.

“Ally is the niece of world class Kirtan artist Dave Stringer and is equally as professional in her own right.

“Ally now lives with her husband in Ocean Grove.

“The music was beautiful.

“Ally plays the harmonium, an ancient Indian instrument used for Kirtan and chanting.”

Ms Lynch said she was very happy with the contribution for the cause.
