Community to be heroes for dogs in need

PAW patrol will descend on Geelong once again this morning (May 28) for the RSPCA Victoria’s Million Paws Walk which will help to raise funds against animal cruelty.

The Geelong Botanical Gardens is one of eight locations across the state where thousands of locals and their four-legged friends will walk to help support RSPCA in continuing to fund the critical work the organisation is doing to stop animal abuse.

Last year, nearly 20,000 dogs turned to the RSPCA around Australia for help, many were victims of cruelty, bred to turn a profit, or abandoned by the humans they loved unconditionally.

Geelong Million Paws Walk coordinator Kate Kasby said the event, which has been running for over 25 years, would be a fantastic opportunity for locals to support their four-legged friends for a good cause.

“The Million Paws Walk is the highlight of the year for many dog lovers across Victoria, and it’s no different in Geelong,” Ms Kasby said.

“We know people love their pets and there’s nothing better for people or their dogs, than getting out for a walk.

“Million Paws Walk is a fun day out celebrating the animals in our lives and raising much needed funds for thousands of animals in need who come in through RSPCA Victoria’s doors each year.”

The walk starts at 11am and will be accompanied by a BBQ and a range of pet exhibits.
