THE Highton/Ceres Acorn Branch of Cottage by the Sea has notched up a significant milestone in their efforts to help transform the lives of young people across the region.
The branch celebrated their 100th year of supporting the Queenscliff children’s charity at their annual general meeting and afternoon tea last week.
Former general manager of Cottage by the Sea Tony Featherston attended the celebrations, in addition to existing and former branch members.
The Highton/Ceres Acorb Branch has significantly financially supported the Cottage across the centenary, including at its Annual Fair.
They have also donated specific items over the years, from tablecloths for the dining tables, to clothes for the participants.
The Branch gave a bequest to Cottage which was used to purchase new doors for the building.
“Cottage is important, so we wanted to celebrate helping the Cottage for 100 years,” president Rosalind Leigh said.
“It’s not really for us at the Branch; it’s just recognition of the years we’ve been involved, which is rather special.”
Cottage by the Sea chief executive officer Adam Wake thanked the branch for their incredible support.
“Cottage by the Sea Branches have been the backbone of community awareness and support since the very start of our charity,” he said.
“We are so grateful for the dedicated commitment of the Highton/Ceres Acorn Branch and congratulate them on an incredible milestone.”
