Cottage by the Sea holds Winter Warmers Breakfast
COTTAGE by the Sea’s Winter Warmer event returned to GMHBA Stadium on Wednesday last week.
Hosted by Cottage by the Sea ambassador Ian Cover, guests learned more about the children’s charity and the Winter Warmers fundraising campaign.
Mr Cover took the roving microphone around the room to Cottage by the Sea patron Rebecca Maddern and ambassador Warren Davies “The Unbreakable Farmer”, as well as alumni and Olympian Morgan Mitchell.
With a background as an exercise physiologist, nutritionist and neuroscientist, Paul Taylor returned as the guest speaker for a second year.
He shared a presentation on navigating life with grace, the art of resilience, overcoming adversity and applying
stoic wisdom, reminding guests at the end of his presentation that “life is a precious gift”.
Ms Maddern said he was one of the best speakers she had ever heard.
Established in 1890, the Queenscliff-based charity aims to enhance children’s lives with inspiration, fun and opportunity, running short-stay camps with diverse programs, focusing on adventures in nature.
Cottage by the Sea’s Winter Warmers fundraising campaign was also launched at the event where last year’s supporters shared their tips on how they raised much needed money.
“As a not-for-profit independent children’s charity that doesn’t receive government funding for its programs, we are reliant on the communities support of our events and fundraisers like Winter Warmers,” Cottage by the Sea chief executive officer Adam Wake said.
“It’s super simple to register for Winter Warmers and every dollar truly does make a difference to the children who come through our doors.”
The campaign will take place from June 17 until June 30.
