Cottage Fair reaches new fundraising heights

COTTAGE by the Sea’s longstanding annual fair has raised a record-breaking $75,000 to support children and their families across the country.

More than 2,500 people attended Saturday’s event at the children’s charity home base at Flinders Street in Queenscliff.

A range of different stallholders and local food and beverage vendors gave up their time to support the day.

Specially curated jewellery, pots and plants, second-hand books and clothing were some special additions, while others feasted on the delicious egg and bacon rolls, cakes, Devonshire tea and cordial.

All money raised enables Cottage by the Sea to to provide fun and opportunity to more children through its short-term stays and nature-based therapy.

Cottage by the Sea chief executive officer, Adam Wake said the support from the community was at an all-time high.

“The community support reinforces our strong sense of belonging as a values-based organisation,” he said.

“The sense of goodwill throughout the day was palpable, as was excitement at the announcement of the final, record-breaking financial result.

“For those who do not know, our amazing team of staff back up this day by donating their time, joining an already large team of volunteers, to make it all happen. No one is paid to be here on the day. Thank you all.”

Cottage by the Sea strategic partnerships manager, Bill Kerr also thanked all those who contributed to the fair’s success.

“The support of our community, was as always, is amazing,” he said.

“We can’t wait to spend the funds raised on our programs to bring more kids to Cottage – the need for our support is only growing.”
