Crowd of Nippers comes to Cosy Corner
THOUSANDS of Nippers and spectators again swarmed to Cosy Corner on Friday for the second junior carnival of the Life Saving Victoria (LSV) season.
More than 1,500 registered nippers from 27 lifesaving clubs competed in the carnival, with the range of events including girls and boys iron, board races, beach flags and wade relay.
LSV aquatic sport senior co-ordinator Kirsty Clark said Friday’s carnival featured a new event as a curtain-raiser: the all ages six-leg board relay, where clubs entered as a team with one person from each age group (under 9 to under 14).
She said the Junior Cosy Corner Carnival was a great day of competition with Nippers from near and far competing – many of them for their club for the first time – and an opportunity to showcase the young talent from all parts of the state.
