Cyclists take on the coast
Cyclists have donned their Great Ocean Otway Classic Ride jerseys and are cycling one of Australia’s most famous stretches of coastline.
Thousands of riders kicked off at 6.30am participating in three Great Ocean Otway Classic Ride events; the 60km Family Ride, the 145km Classic Ride, and the 204km Amy’s Ride. The cycling event offers a course for everyone, giving cyclists the unique opportunity to ride along one of the world’s most scenic roads and explore the unique coastal and Otway towns along the way.
Each ride starts and finishes in Torquay, with the Classic and Amy’s Ride taking cyclists on sections of the Great Ocean Road before finishing back in Torquay.
The Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride supports the Amy Gillet Foundation, to educate and advocate for safe cycling. Organisers encourage all participants to fundraise for the cause.
There is a number of road closures of inland roads throughout the event morning to create a safer cycling environment for riders. More information on road closures can be found at the Great Ocean and Otway Classic Ride.
