G21 GEELONG Region Alliance has locked in the date for this year’s G21 Regional Forum, which will be held on October 3.

The alliance of business, government and community organisations for the Geelong region revealed the date in an email update to its members earlier this month.

A venue has not been confirmed, but the forum has been held at the RACV Torquay Resort for several years and typically draws a sell-out crowd of about 300 people.

The lineup of speakers for this year’s Regional Forum has also not been revealed, but the email hints at the topics that will be discussed.

“With the cost of living bearing down hard on many people, what are the impacts on the health and wellbeing of our communities, both now and in the longer term?” the email asks.

“This year’s G21 Regional Forum will examine how the pressures are playing out in our region and what we can do to help.

“We’ll hear from the nation’s experts, check up on the health of the region with new data from Barwon Health, reveal the latest best practice for work/life balance and hear about ways we can all make a difference locally for those doing it tough.

“Put it in the diary now – October 3 – we’ll see you there.”

The G21 Regional Forum usually features speeches and panel discussions from leaders in local, state and federal government, as well as business and community leaders.

Last year’s event included then-deputy premier, minister for transport and infrastructure, and minister for the Suburban Rail Loop (now Premier) Jacinta Allan, Infrastructure Victoria deputy chief executive officer Dr Allison Stewart, then-Avalon Airport chief exectuive officer Tony Brun, Searoad Ferries chief executive officer Matt McDonald, a panel discussion between First Nations leaders from across the G21 area, and G21 chief executive officer Giulia Baggio.
