EARLY risers will lace up on New Year’s Eve for the Dawnbusters Fun Run along Geelong’s waterfront.

The December 31 event will raise vital funds for the Give Where You Live Foundation (GWYLF), supporting food security programs, homelessness assistance and inclusive employment initiatives.

Organised in partnership with the Geelong Cross Country Club, the 5km fun run aims to help build a fairer and more equitable community.

GWYLF chief executive, Zac Lewis, said the event was a refreshing and accessible way to start the day.

“For 34 years, the Geelong Cross Country Club has partnered with the foundation to host the Dawnbuster Fun Run. It is great to see the community coming together to support the foundation, with runners of all ages and fitness levels joining in.

“We can’t think of a better way to kickstart your 2026 than raising funds for the Give Where You Live Foundation and supporting people in our community who may be experiencing homelessness, struggling to put food on the table, or facing barriers to employment.”

Geelong Cross Country Club’s John Morton said the club was proud to reach the 34th running of the annual event, which has seen participants line up at 7am every year since 1992.

Starting the final day of 2025 with a run along Geelong’s waterfront is, he said, “the perfect way to set the tone for the year ahead and support your community”.
