Dive into summer fun

October 25, 2024 BY

AS THE weather gets warmer and summer approaches, opening hours at our outdoor pools are changing.

From November, the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre (NBAC) will operate with increased opening hours, giving everyone the chance to enjoy the water. On weekdays, the pool will be open from 6 am to 10 am and again from 3 pm to 6 pm.

If it’s forecast to be 24 degrees or higher, the centre won’t close during the middle of the day to give people a chance to enjoy the warm weather and soak up the sun in the refreshing water.

As we start the summer season in December, the centre hours will extend further. The pool will be open Monday to Friday from 6am to 6pm and 10am to 5pm on weekends. So, whether you’re a morning swimmer or prefer a relaxing afternoon dip, there’s a time for everyone.

Located in Drysdale opposite the Potato Shed, NBAC has an eight-lane, 50-metre pool and amenities designed for everyone. With all-abilities change facilities, a kiosk with outdoor seating, shaded tiered seating, a landscaped community lawn area with umbrellas and plenty of parking, the centre is perfect for a family day out.

NBAC has been popular with the local community. More than 50,000 visitors have come to enjoy the pool since the centre opened its doors in November 2023. NBAC operated with reduced hours over autumn and winter, with more than 10,000 people taking a dip.

Aqua aerobics classes are starting up again with the popular White Water class returning on November 1.

These classes are a great way to improve fitness, try something new at your own pace and be social.

The Friday 9am to 9.40am class is high intensity, designed to get your heart pumping and involves some moderate resistance moves to help strength development.

Also on the Bellarine is the Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre (BASC) in Ocean Grove. With its 25-metre heated pool, toddler and learner’s pool, splash park and gym, there is something for the whole family.

BASC offers a wide range of group exercise classes, Webstar’s Swim School, gymnastics classes and a Saturday morning junior soccer program.

The basketball courts are available for casual use on weekends, and during public and school holidays.

The City has seven aquatics facilities around Geelong – three outdoors and four indoors. They each boast different facilities including waterslides, spas, saunas, warm water pools and much more.

So, get ready to dive into summer fun and create unforgettable memories at your community aquatic centres. We can’t wait to see you there.
