Dogs, campfires to be trialled at some caravan parks
DOGS and campfires will be allowed at a series of local caravan parks throughout the winter period.
A low-season trial from land managers Barwon Coast will take place across Barwon Heads, Riverview and Breamlea Caravan Parks.
The initiative responds to years of community and camper feedback asking for more flexible camping arrangements during quieter times.
The trial is limited to specific sites at each park and includes strict rules to ensure the safety of all visitors, protection of wildlife and maintenance of the natural environment.
All bookings involving a dog or a campfire must be made by speaking/emailing directly with park staff, as these sites cannot be booked online.
Each caravan park’s website has a map of where the sites are located, however sites are subject to availability.
It is noted campfires will not be permitted at Breamlea due to site-specific constraints.
A feedback survey has opened for both campers and the wider community to express their views on the initiative.
All views will help shape whether the parks will allow dogs and campfires past the winter period.
Feedback is open until September 12.
