Donations to double for remainder of appeal

CHILDREN from Bell Park Kindergarten have shared kindness to those who need it most in Geelong’s community by supporting the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal.

The small preschool turned green last week in support of a dress-up day to fundraise for the month-long appeal.

Coordinated by Meli in partnership with The Sexual Assault and Family Violence Centre, the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal supports thousands of families and individuals to enjoy Christmas Day through the distribution of e-gift cards.

Before the campaign wraps up this weekend, donations will be doubled thanks to support from generous matched donor partners.

The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery will also be hosting a lollipop-making activation from 9 to 5pm on Saturday to support the appeal.

Over at Lions Park in Anglesea, a collection tin will be on site for a family friendly free exercise class by The Jungle Body on Sunday from 9.30 to 10.30am.

Meli chief executive officer, Grant Boyd encouraged the community to consider even a small donation to help those doing it tough.

“We know our most vulnerable will again feel the strain,” he said.

“Your generosity may help a family be able to share a special Christmas meal or afford a present for a loved one.”
