Doorknock appeal raises thousands for club

January 18, 2018 BY

MEMBERS of the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club (PLSLSC) raised more than $19,200 during their doorknock appeal last month.

The donations came from residents, holidaymakers and visitors of Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff, which were collected by a team of Nippers, parents, counter tins and ferry terminal collectors.

The annual doorknock comes after PLSLSC launched its public campaign in November to raise $2 million to fund a new clubhouse.

PLSLSC president Matthew Ponsford said following years of preparatory work the club was now in a position to start fundraising for much-needed new club facilities.

“We launch the public campaign with the aim to raise $2 million in addition to the $1.5 million grant from the Victorian government,” Mr Ponsford said.

“We are seeking major gift pledges from individuals, families and businesses who care about the Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff community and value the essential surf lifesaving services we provide.”
