Drysdale Bypass land to be sold to VicRoads
THE City of Greater Geelong has agreed to sell two parcels of land to VicRoads for construction of the Drysdale Bypass.
The land size is 38,280sqm at 702 Grubb Road and 86sqm at 1911 Portarlington Road, Drysdale, and will be sold for $1.836 million plus GST.
The project plans indicated the need for council land at these two locations at Grubb Road and Portarlington Road, Drysdale to accommodate the proposed bypass road.
Sale of the land will provide direct access to the northern end of Peninsula Drive and will provide a new intersection at Whitcombes Road.
Much of the land to be sold is already occupied by a major drainage basin, which will be retained as part of the project.
The sale of the land will not compromise the implementation of the Drysdale Sporting Precinct plan. Just over 30 hectares will be kept following sale of the land to develop all facilities outlined in the Drysdale Sporting Precinct Plan.
VicRoads has undergone extensive public consultation for the project design from April 2015 and a timeline of the project is available at vicroads.vic.gov.au.
