THE Disabled Surfing Association of Australia’s (DSA) first 2023 meet at Ocean Grove Beach drew more than 150 volunteers who assisted people with disability to enjoy the surf.

Disabled Surfing Association National Secretary Phil Christie said community support at Sunday’s event demonstrated the region’s volunteer cohort “never ever lets them down”.

The next meet will be on March 5.

More than 20 participants took part in the DSA Ocean Grove meet.

“We are absolutely rapt, when it all comes to push and shove, we know our volunteers will rock up and again we had great numbers,” Mr Christie said.

“While it was cold, the vibes were still great, and it was amazing to see the participants, smiling and surfing again.

Smiles were seen from ear to ear during the session.

“We had a blind lady take part for the first time ever and her feedback for one was just amazing, she had an absolute ball and has already registered for March.

“We all just had an absolute ball and can’t thank everyone enough.”

The volunteers showed out in force.

The DSA Ocean Grove are celebrating their 16th year of operation in 2023 and hope more people can jump on board to positively impact the lives of thousands of people in the community.

The next meet will be on Sunday, March 5 at Ocean Grove Beach.
