Early hours fire sparks investigation in Armstrong Creek

A burnt-out car greeted Armstrong Creek residents early this morning, after a suspicious blaze in local bushland.

Emergency services were called to reports of a car on fire near the intersection of Warralily Boulevard and Charlemont Road at about 5.30am this morning.

Two CFA units from Grovedale and Connewarre attended the scene alongside FRV and Victoria Police.

On arrival, crews found the vehicle well alight and immediately began suppression efforts, but the car was completely destroyed in the blaze.

The incident saw Charlemont Road closed in both directed to traffic, with the blaze deemed under control at 5.40am and declared safe at 5.51am.

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit is investigating the incident.
