Easter art show hopes to draw on community
THE Barwon Heads Art Group is calling on the community and visitors to come and support its upcoming exhibition.
The group, formally known as the Senior Citizens Art Group, will be holding an Easter Art Show from Good Friday until Monday, April 5.
Proceeds from the exhibit on Good Friday will go towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.
Convenor Dorothy Van Dorp said due to COVID, the group had missed out on its Melbourne Cup Art Show last year, so would like to make this upcoming one a success.
“We are all local artists who have the same interest in painting and over 100 paintings will be on view,” Ms Van Dorp said.
“We have male and female artists in our group and this has been a very successful art group for many years.
“Our group are all members of the Barwon Heads Senior Citizens and we hold classes at the centre every Thursday.”
Ms Van Dorp said their mentor was Eileen Batty, who started the group 25 years ago, and it was still going as strong as ever.
“Due to COVID we are hoping that this will be a start to getting things back to normal again,” she said.
“We are asking the local community and visitors to support us by coming along and viewing our work.”
The Easter Art Show will be held over the four days of Easter, opening at 10am and closing at 4pm.
On Good Friday, 10 per cent from sales on that day will go towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.
“This was very successful the last time we had our Easter Art Show,” she said.
The Easter Art Show is at Barwon Heads Senior Citizens Centre, Clifford Parade, Barwon Heads. COVID guidelines will apply.
