Cr Ross Ebbles will serve as mayor for a one-year term.

Cr Ross Ebbles will continue as mayor of the Borough of Queenscliffe after he was re-elected unopposed during today’s special council meeting.

Cr Ebbles was elected for a further one-year term as mayor at a special Zoom council meeting chaired by chief executive officer Martin Gill.

“It certainly is a great honor to be elected as mayor for a second year, and I would like to thank my fellow councillors for their support,” Cr Ebbles said in his mayoral speech.

“I’d also like to thank our community for their support over the past four years as a councillor and in particular the past year as mayor.”

Cr Ebbles said he was excited for the make up of the new council, which had a “mix of experience”.

“After one  week of being together I already know we will work hard as a team to do the best for our community,”  he said.

“We will listen to our community.

“The past 10 months during the COVID pandemic shows how much we value our community, our family, friends and it also brought out the best of the people in our community.

“We have all looked after the most vulnerable residents in the Borough, this has shown how fortunate we are to live in the Borough of Queenscliffe.”
