Eggstravaganza raises record for the kids
The fifth annual “Easter Eggstravaganza” held at the Queenscliff Bowling Tennis and Croquet Club was another huge success, raising a record $38,125 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. This takes the total amount raised over the five years the event has run to $158,066.00. About 1,000 children took part in Easter egg hunts throughout the day, while local chldren painted nails, braided hair, and ran handball competitions for donations.
The adult egg hunt was again a hit for both participants and spectators alike with a lot of laughs and some fantastic prizes being won. Entertainment was provided on the day by local Bellarine Secondary College student band “Brunette Red Dress”, who highlighted their talents playing a mix of covers and original tunes. Violinist Phil Smurthwaite also performed through the lunch period and another local artist Jude McGovern rounded out the day’s entertainment – all of whom gave their time and talent for the fundraising effort. The club has thanked all of the businesses and individuals who supported the event along with the volunteers who gave their time to be a part of it.
