Emslie earns Surfing Victoria life membership

A BELLARINE Peninsula local has been lauded for his dedication and commitment to the sport of surfing and awarded with statewide honours.

Lifelong surfer and former Surfing Victoria board member Glenn Emslie was presented with Surfing Victoria life membership at the state surfing body’s Annual General Meeting last week.

Mr Emslie has been involved across all aspects of surfing from competing, to judging and boardriders clubs for most of his life.

He was a founding member of Ocean Grove based SOUL Longboard Club, has been the Surfing Victoria Longboard State Representative, National Representative as well as team manager for the Victorian state team at the Australian Longboard Titles.

Mr Emslie was elected to the board of Surfing Victoria in 2004 and has been a stabilising force for the organisation over his twenty plus years of service.

Surfing Victoria chair Ashleigh Wall thanked him for his time and commitment and positive impact he has had on the organisation.

“Glenn Emslie has had an immense impact on Surfing Victoria over his 20 years of service on the board,” said Surfing Victoria Chair Ashleigh Wall.

“I would like to thank him for his dedication and friendship during his tenure.

“I have no doubt Glenn will remain part of the Surfing Victoria furniture for years to come.”
