THE latest in electric vehicles (EVs) and electric bikes (e-bikes) will be on display at the inaugural Bellarine EV and E-Bike Expo in Drysdale.

Parents for Climate, Bellarine Bicycle Users Group, Springdale Neighbourhood Centre and Geelong Sustainability have teamed up to host the event, to be held on November 17.

The expo will bring people together to explore the practical and accessible options for clean, cost-saving and electric transport.

Parents for Climate’s Jacqui Dunn said one of the reasons for the expo was to provide some education around EVs and e-bikes, to dispel some of the myths.

“We know we are in a climate emergency and there’s a lot of people who are very worried about it but aren’t sure how to act.

“There’s a lot of people who feel it’s only the rich who can afford to act on climate, but actually we can prove to you that everybody can have a little piece of the action and everybody can do their own bit.”

(L-R) Laura Billings, Jacqui Dunn and Robin Gardner are part of the events organising committee.

The expo will feature a range of vehicles and bikes from manufacturers including Tesla, Hyundai, MG and more with e-bikes also on display and the option for visitors to take them for a test drive.

“You can see what’s great about these cars and what you like or dislike about certain models and makes and then you can actually go for a ride in a car with one of the owners,” Ms Dunn said.

“They’ll take you around and show you what the car feels like and what it’s like to ride inside one and then you can go to John Paul at Good Cycles and have a little ride around of an e-bike as well.”

Presentations and Q&A panels will also take place on the day, with experts and local electric vehicle and e-bike owners, sharing their expertise and answering any questions.

Springdale Neighbourhood Centre will host the event from 1pm until 4pm.

The expo is free but attendees are encouraged to register.
