Extra Saturday train service to Melbourne added

November 21, 2019 BY

An extra Saturday service from Geelong railway station (seen here) to Melbourne has been added.

A SERIES of changes will give residents in and around Geelong more public transport options.

An extra train service taking Geelong passengers to Melbourne has been permanently added to the Saturday timetable.

The service will take a little over an hour, departing Geelong at 10.16am before stopping at North Geelong, North Shore, Corio, Lara, Little River and all other stations except Ardeer, before arriving at Southern Cross at 11.20am.

Geelong MP Chris Couzens said the service was great for those wanting to make weekend trips to Melbourne.

“An extra Saturday service will be welcomed by Geelong passengers – who head into Melbourne for the weekend to visit family and friends.”

The well-used Saturday morning service from Warrnambool to Southern Cross is now able to run express from Geelong to Footscray.

This will ensure the trip will also be faster for those who join in places such as Waurn Ponds and Marshall.

Another benefit for Geelong residents is that an extra bus service to the Bellarine Peninsula is set to begin on routes 55, 56, 60 and 61 to Geelong Station.
