Families celebrate new library at fun day
FAMILIES of all ages turned out to celebrate the opening of the Leopold library at the weekend.
Hundreds attended the free Family Fun Day on Saturday, which featured a performance by the popular Mik Maks, and Santa was on hand to meet with good little boys and girls.
The event was a great opportunity for the community to meet the staff and explore the new library space, with the Kid’s Area a favourite for many.
The library opened its doors on Monday December 3, when Geelong Regional Library Corporation chair and Geelong councillor Ron Nelson, Geelong mayor Bruce Harwood and local children Keelie and Hudson cut the blue ribbon to mark the milestone.
“Leopold Library will provide services, spaces and programs for people of all ages, including a dedicated technology makerspace to encourage creativity, imagination and problem solving,” Cr Nelson said.
