Fashion show walks the walk in Ocean Grove
A COMMUNITY-LED fashion show has opened up spring with a bang following a fun-filled afternoon in Ocean Grove.
Local businesswomen Sarah Donaldson and Tarryn Stanley hosted a sold-out Spring Fashion Carnival on Sunday, showcasing a range of clothing items worn by a full line-up of models.
“We exceeded what we thought we could achieve on the day,” Ms Donaldson said.
“We sold over 75 tickets for the event, expecting to sell around 50.
“It was just an exciting atmosphere to be a part of with attendees bringing their products from their own businesses – it really brought the Spring Fashion Carnival theme to life.”
Ms Donaldson owns Ocean Grove beauty salon The Beauty Queen Face & Body, while Ms Stanley owns dress rental and preloved fashion business, Ocean Rental Boutique.
Live music from MC Kim Cooper entertained all in attendance, while guests were looking their best thanks to makeup by Jess from Complete Face Cosmetics.
Ocean Grove florist Blooms Rock provided the floral arrangements on the day.
The fashion show headlined the event and featured 11 different models for over 40 minutes.
“I’d definitely like to do something like this again in the future, the whole event went really well,” Ms Donaldson said.
“Tarryn and I wanted this carnival to be a really fun event and I have no doubt we achieved that.”
The event also aimed to raise awareness and donations for the Happy Boxes Project, which builds and dispatches thousands of care packages to women in Aboriginal communities across the country.
Boxes can include a selection of toiletries and beauty products such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, pads, tampons, and toothpaste or luxury self-care items.
