FC Leopold’s Division 2 Men’s team were victorious during their Grand Final match against Bell Park SC at the weekend.

The Greens were still celebrating earlier this week after bringing home a spectacular 4 to 2 winat Myers Reserve in Bell Post Hill on Sunday.

Bell Park SC entered the grand final as champions and is one of the oldest clubs in the Geelong region, but didn’t prove good enough against the new kids on the block in the shape of the two-year-old FC Leopold.

Bell Park scored within 15 minutes but the FC Leopold boys didn’t let their heads drop with a well-constructed goal supplied with a great pass from Mitchell Vials, finished well by Veejesh Moonipah.

Leopold then took the lead with a terrific strike from inspirational Captain Neil Cooke from long range free kick beating the keeper with the low hard strike to the bottom corner.

Bell Park equalised deservedly and almost went into the sheds 3-2 up, but their goal was ruled out after a foul on the Greens’ keeper James Deller.

The second half saw a good battle of some lovely skill and hard work from both teams and was beautiful to watch.

Again another well-constructed goal saw Vials play through who finished with aplomb a fierce bullet of a shot.

The icing on the cake was another wonder strike from Captain Cooke, completing an absolute captain’s performance on a great day for everyone involved with FC Leopold.

Meanwhile, FC Leopold will hold its Senior Presentation Night at Leopold Sportsmans Club this Saturday night from 7pm.

Tickets cost $25 and include finger food and a welcome drink on arrival.

Celebrate a successful season for the senior teams and see who takes home all the end-ofseason awards.
