FC LEOPOLD describes their junior coordinator Rick Scade as a positive and enthusiastic individual who has played a pivotal role in the development of the club.
Mr Scade, who first started as the junior coordinator when the club formed in 2016, is a finalist in Viva Energy Australia’s Club Legend People’s Choice Award 2019.
Cath Sattler from FC Leopold said Mr Scade was an “absolute legend”, and an unassuming guy who worked spectacularly hard for the soccer club but wanted no fuss or praise.
“He just wants to see FC Leopold have the best community focussed culture that embodies inclusivity, development of all players and coaches alike, and is the most organised coordinator with help from Lisa De Vries, another legend who was nominated for Geelong’s female administrator of the year earlier this season,” Ms Sattler said.
“All of us who are involved in volunteering at our local sports club accepts we take time and effort for the good of the club, but we felt at FC Leopold that what Rick does is so far above and beyond what the rest of us undertake as community volunteers.
“We sincerely hope Rick is a finalist of this cherished award and appeals to Leopold locals from all sporting codes to get behind having this legend in our community.”
When FC Leopold entered the competition level in 2017, Mr Scade began to actively manage the entire Miniroos and Junior programs as the sole coordinator.
Aspects of this role includes putting together training programs, building teams and sourcing coaches, handling any issues that may arise, strengthening governance structures, working on policies and helping to build up coaching skills.
The finalist with the most votes will win the prestigious Club Legend People’s Choice Award 2019 and receive $2,500 for themselves and $2,500 for their club.
Voting closes at midnight on August 22 2019.
