LOCALS, visitors and stakeholders are invited to have their say on the future of the Barwon Coast Foreshore as community consultation begins.
Participants will have the opportunity to have their say on the Foreshore Master Plan, which will guide the protection, enhancement and connection of key areas.
Bancoora Beach, Thirteenth Beach, Barwon Bluff, Barwon Heads Foreshore, Bukareeyoo, Ocean Grove Main Beach and Collendina are included in the 15-year plan which aims to ensure the Foreshore is preserved and managed for the future.
Barwon Coast Committee of management deputy chair Peter Farrell said they want to hear from as many people as possible.
“The foreshore is a treasured place for our community, and this Master Plan will ensure it is protected and enhanced in a way that reflects local values and aspirations.”
The Master Plan will align with the Camping and Caravan Parks Master Plan and inform the development of the next Coastal and Marine Management Plan, to be renewed in 2026.
Following community consultation, community and stakeholder design workshops will take place in June to allow for real-time feedback.
Barwon Coast will also work with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, state and local government agencies and stakeholders to develop the plan, along with a community reference group formed in late 2024.
It is expected a draft Master Plan will be released later in the year and opportunities for future input before the final plan is completed.
Community consultation is open now and will run until March 31.
