THE SpinOff festival will roll into Geelong on Friday, October 17, bringing an afternoon of music, family fun, and world-class cycling with the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
Entertainment for the day will start at 4pm with GRID Series alum Farah on the Eastern Beach Reserve Mainstage and the Hendry’s SpinOff Family Ride at Upper Hearne Parade.
Riding events will continue into the evening with the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships Team Relay at 6pm on the 1.92km criterium course through Upper Herne Parade.
On the main stage, music will be pumping with Hassall, the Pierce Brothers and The Bamboos keeping the tunes playing until 9pm.
Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj is encouraging everyone to head down to the waterfront for the event.
“We’re excited to host this world-class event and showcase our beautiful waterfront precinct,” he said.
“SpinOff brings together sport, music and fun for everyone. We’d love visitors to Geelong to come for the cycling and festival and stay for the weekend to explore our vibrant restaurant and shopping scene.”
Off the stage and outside of the cycling, children can also enjoy activities including face painting and a silent disco.
People heading along are invited to bring a picnic blanket, with plenty of space to relax, or visit one of the food trucks.
Geelong major events chair Cr Andrew Katos said there was no better spot than the waterfront to host a cycling event.
“You don’t have to be a cycling enthusiast to get involved; there will be an amazing atmosphere, great food and live music. It’s an unmissable event for everyone to enjoy.”
