A SIGNIFICANT truck blaze along the Geelong Ring Road resulted in delays earlier today (Tuesday, November 11) as crews worked to bring the scene under control.

A Fire Rescue Victoria spokesperson said they responded to an incident at 10.59am following a call to Triple Zero (000) reporting a motor vehicle collision.

“Crews arrived on scene to find a motor vehicle collision involving two trucks, one of which had caught fire as a result of the collision,” they said.

“Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, bringing the incident under control at 11.22am.”

In images posted to local community pages, smoke could be seen billowing from a Sooner Transport truck, with Melbourne-bound traffic impacted.

Ambulance Victoria was called to the incident where they assessed one male patient, no emergency treatment or transport was required.

All lanes were closed at the time of the incident and traffic detoured.

Lanes have now reopened and traffic is able to pass using the emergency lane, with delays of about 10 minutes expected.

Motorists are asked to allow extra time for travel and follow the directions of traffic management.
