THOUSANDS of people are expected to gather in Portarlington and Queenscliff next week to ring in the New Year, with three fireworks displays set to dazzle and delight.

In Portarlington, Bellarine Bayside will host its beloved family-friendly fireworks display at 9.30pm on Tuesday, December 31 over Port Phillip Bay.

The prominent display can be viewed from several locations along Portarlington’s foreshore, and the community is invited to bring a picnic blanket, pick a spot, relax and celebrate the occasion with family and friends.

Chief executive officer Scott Crabtree said the organisation was pleased to provide the fireworks again this year, allowing young and old to mark New Year’s Eve together.

“Funded by our holiday park revenue, the fireworks are held over the bay providing many vantage points for people to get together for a relaxing evening on the coast.

“We encourage all people attending to be patient and celebrate responsibly so that everyone has an enjoyable evening.”

Meanwhile, the team at Queenscliff Harbour are back with their annual all-ages New Year’s Eve celebration, which will begin at 6pm.

This year’s event will feature live music, roaming street performers, family-friendly entertainment and two fireworks displays scheduled for 9.30am and midnight, respectively.

Queenscliff Harbour’s annual family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration will feature live music, food vendors, roaming street performers and a children’s zone.

With the support of Searoad Ferries, who provide the launch platform, the Queenscliff Harbour’s fireworks display continues to grow in size and boldness each year and is best viewed from the harbour boardwalk.

Live music will be provided on the night by Melbourne-based disco funk five-piece band Vaudeville Smash – best-known for its electric live shows – and multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Ethan Conway.

Since reaching the top 20 on The Voice Australia in 2015 at the age of 18, Conway has released multiple albums, toured extensively throughout Europe, the Caribbean and New Zealand, and forged a reputation as a master of the loop pedal and FX board.

Entertainer Chris Morant will also make an appearance, bringing his captivating fire and magic show to local audiences, while a dedicated children’s zone along the harbour promenade will include inflatable and lawn games and face painting for the youngsters in attendance.

Entry to Queenscliff Harbour is free for children under 12.
