Flying high: Avalon crowned as Major Airport of the Year

December 5, 2019 BY

Avalon Airport has grown significantly in recent years.

AVALON Airport was recently named Major Airport of the Year at the National Airport Industry Awards.

The annual awards are hosted by the Australian Airports Association, and were held this year on the Gold Coast.

Avalon chief executive officer Justin Giddings said it was a privilege to receive the award on the airport’s behalf.

“It was very special to receive the award from Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack after the Commonwealth Government’s enormous support to make international happen.

“Thanks also to the Victorian Government for not only its contribution but also ensuring Avalon remained operational through some pretty tough times.”

In recent times, Avalon Airport has grown their international operations by partnering with Vietnamese airline VietJet Air, and have also begun using a CT scanner able to create three-dimensional images of peoples’ luggage.
