AN ACCESSIBLE footpath network in Ocean Grove is beginning to take shape, with some of its paths now complete and more set to be ready by the end of the year.

New paths on Draper Street (Eggleston Street to Tuckfield Street) and on The Avenue (Field Street South to Presidents Avenue) were marked complete this month.

Works at Field Street South (133 The Parade), The Avenue (Presidents Avenue to Tuckfield Street), Marlin Drive (South side) and The Parade (Eggleston Street to Emperor Drive) are slated to be done in December.

The Ocean Grove Principal Pedestrian Network plans to deliver more than 20 kilometres of new footpaths in “old” Ocean Grove and Collendina over the next few years.

The network will ensure safer access to local schools and businesses.

City of Greater Geelong chief executive officer Ali Wastie said residents were already enjoying the upgrades.

“We’re making great progress on expanding the accessible footpath network across Ocean Grove.”
