Forums to give residents opportunity to meet Bellarine candidates
BELLARINE residents will have a chance to hear from their local council candidates at a series of coming forums.
Three forum sessions will give voters the opportunity to understand candidates’ visions and proposals for the future and to ask any questions.
Under the new City of Greater Geelong council structure, the Bellarine is divided into three wards (Connewarre, Murradoc and Leopold).
Each area will elect one councillor to represent in council.
The three “meet the candidate” sessions will be held on the following dates:
Wednesday, September 25 – Connewarre Ward – Ocean Grove Bowling Club, 7pm
Thursday, September 26 – Murradoc Ward – Parks Hall, Portarlington, 7pm
October 9 – Leopold Ward – Springdale Hall, 7pm
Portarlington Community Association president Mike Fairweather said he was hoping for a big field of quality candidates across the Bellarine to attend.
“There are many important community issues facing our peninsula, and we need strong advocates over the next four years.
“Returning to single-councillor wards will be a big challenge for the city, and we’ll be looking for strong performance and governance.”
Those with any questions about the events can send an email to [email protected]
Council postal voting packs will be mailed out from October 7.
