Free beer for the vaxxed is no Furphy
Locally brewed favourite Furphy has declared it’s their shout for double-jabbed beer lovers as part of a ‘Vaxxed to the Pub’ initiative in support of hospitality venues.
Furphy and parent-company Lion announced fully vaccinated Aussies aged 18-plus will be rewarded with a free glass of Furphy when pub and club doors safely reopen.
Lion managing director James Brindley said the company saw the initiative as a way to boost jabs in arms throughout the country in line with official health advice.
Fully vaccinated punters who visit participating watering holes can enjoy their first beer on the house.
Mr Brindley said the call was particularly aimed at city workers to support those venues hit the hardest, and to reconnect over a session of yarn spinning and refreshing ale, down at the local.
“We’re urging our fellow Aussies to roll up their sleeves and get double-jabbed so that we can start to bring much-needed business back to our struggling hospitality sector,” he said.
“We want to encourage all Aussies who can to get fully vaccinated.
“We can’t wait for the Furphys to flow once more and give some much-needed foot traffic to our hospitality mates.”
To kick off the initiative, Lion employees located throughout Australia have been offered an afternoon off to spend at the pub when re-opening is safely ticked off by health authorities.
Lion is hoping other companies to follow suit, if they can, by giving their workforce a ‘Vaxxed to the Pub’ early mark sometime soon when it’s safe to do so.
“Lion has committed to giving our employees an afternoon at the pub once reopened so that they can share stories and a couple of long overdue cold ones together in person,” Mr Brindley said.
Furphy will offer a free Furphy Refreshing Ale or Furphy Crisp Lager at participating venues via the Myy App for those who prove that they are fully COVID-19 vaccinated.
The offer is available from October 1 to December 31, 2021. Find out more and read the T&Cs on the Furphy website.
