Free fitness sessions to help community power through lockdowns
NEWCOMB Football Club will be running free community fitness sessions for children, teens and adults once the state’s latest lockdown finishes.
Junior Football co-ordinator Scott Smith said one of their coaches, Adam Bell, was a qualified personal trainer and would be running the sessions.
“Physical activity is a vital component for mental health and with all the stop-start from lockdowns this is one way we can help the community,” Scott said. “Sessions begin on Wednesday, September 8, and are being run on the top oval.”
Community fitness sessions for 7-10 year olds will run from 5pm to 5.30pm, 10 to 14 year olds will run from 5.30pm to 6.15pm and 14-plus between 6.15pm and 7pm.
Scott said parents were welcome to walk laps of the oval instead if they didn’t want to join in on the sessions.
“We might have to put it back a week or two, depending on restrictions, but we can keep everyone updated through our Facebook page,” he said.
“I believe the program is more essential than ever due to the lockdown.
“Active body, healthy mind.”
