GROUND Zero Café in Drysdale has re-opened its doors and is serving up a fresh dishes thanks to new owners Patrick and Grace Lamanna.

Having previously ran the kitchen at popular Ocean Grove eatery Napona, Mr Lamanna has used his extensive knowledge and passion for fresh food to create the café’s mouth-watering menu items.

Crispy fried school prawns with roast garlic aioli join pickled cauliflower, hummus and chilli on rye bread, homemade slices, banana bread and muffins as well as daily salads available to take away.

Mrs Lamanna said she and her husband had always wanted to go out on their own and when this opportunity came up, they knew it was the right time.

“I’ve previously worked in hospitality and Patrick was looking to do something for himself when this became available; we knew it was too good of an opportunity not to.

“We haven’t had to do much to the interior. Eventually we’d like to paint and do bits and pieces but our main focus has been on creating a whole new food menu, we’re really focusing on fresh produce, everything’s house made.”

She said the cafe was offering up all day dining, serving big breakfasts, beef burgers and an array of breakfast and lunch items to entice people into the café.

“We really want people to come down and know they can sit down and have a nice lunch, businesses can come and stay for long lunches and have their meetings here. We really want to capture that clientele.

“We just want everyone to come and feel welcome.”
