THE Easter Bunny is hopping its way back to the borough for the return of the Bellarine Railway’s annual Easter Services from April 15 to 18.

Bellarine Railway’s annual Easter Services will run over all four days of this year’s Easter break with a special guest appearance from the Easter Bunny, an Easter egg hunt for kids and a donations drive for the Good Friday Appeal.

“Here at the railway, we like to consider ourselves a family business so to speak, and our Easter Services reflect that,” Bellarine Railway president Steve Dalton said.

“Obviously we haven’t had a chance to run these services the last two years, but families at prior Easter services certainly enjoyed them.”

The services commence on Good Friday with five return trips from Queenscliff to Lakers Siding.

All proceeds from tickets sold on Friday go directly to the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday will run regular Heritage Scenic Trips departing from Queenscliff, but families will also have the chance to purchase an Easter Bunny Special ticket for Saturday and Sunday.

Kids will have the chance to take part in several Easter activities like an Easter Egg Hunt, a bonnet parade and meeting the Easter Bunny.

The special ticket involves a ‘Bunny Spotto’ activity, an Easter Bonnet comp judged by the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt for children and photos opportunities with the Easter Bunny itself!

“Each of our services has always catered to kids and their families, so it makes perfect sense for us to raise funds for the kids in the RCH over the Easter period,” Mr Dalton said.

“Given the stop-start nature over the past two years, we’re happy to be able to provide the services again.”

Mr Dalton also announced the return of the 1917 South Australian T-Class after a seven-year restoration, a unit that ran original services on the Belmont Common and will run this Easter’s trips.

Online bookings close at 10.30am on each running day according to the Bellarine Railway’s website, with tickets available at the gate, unless sold out prior.

To book tickets head to www.bellarinerailway.com.au/easter-weekend-2022. The railway’s Easter special ticket generally sells out first.
