Fundraising house project off to healthy start
THE Barwon Health Foundation is laying the foundations of its single biggest fundraiser yet with the House4Health Charity Auction.
All proceeds from the sale of the house, to be built on a block in the Lara Lakes estate, will support the health of families in Geelong and surrounds.
Barwon Health Foundation executive director Zoe Waters said the intention was for the house to be built, have an immediate six-week inspection period and then go to auction in the first quarter of 2024.
“Literally as soon as we’ve got the certificate of occupancy, we’ll be opening it for the public to come through and see how fabulous it is.
“And we’ll have a big family fair to welcome all of Lara here to celebrate.”
The project was started by the generous donation of a block of land in the Lara Lakes estate valued at $400,000.
Lara West director Lino Bisinella was inspired to gift the block on O’Hallorans Road as a means of giving back to the community.
“We are proud to support the work Barwon Health Foundation is doing in the community to support healthier futures for residents of Geelong, especially those living in the northern suburbs. he said.
“We are very excited to see what our continued partnership will bring to the Geelong community in the future.”
Building partner Hamlan Homes will lead the construction of the spacious four-bedroom, two-living Johanna 274 design, which was selected in consultation with real estate partner Ray White Lara to ensure maximum appeal for buyers in the area.
Ms Waters said the inaugural House4Health Charity Auction presented a new and exciting opportunity to support the health of the Geelong community on a scale never seen before.
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Lara Lakes Estate helping to make this vision a reality.
“This is a truly special charity auction, where 100 per cent of the sale price of this luxury home, in a sought- after estate, will stay right here in Geelong, supporting the health of the people of Greater Geelong.
“Lino Bisinella has been building fantastic communities for current and future residents to enjoy since 1964.
“This donation is a symbol of his commitment to the wider Geelong community, ensuring residents are provided with access to great healthcare and lifestyle opportunities.”
Lara Lakes is located at the top of the Lara West Growth Area and borders the existing town.
The construction and sale of the house will be made possible by the support of generous Geelong businesses.
“This exciting, large-scale fundraiser wouldn’t be possible without an army of supporters,” Ms Waters said.
“We look forward to announcing further House4Health partnerships in due course.”
