Gardening workshop to get you ready for summer

November 7, 2018 BY

Basils Farm’s in-house gardening guru Igor has helped many participants turn their own patch into a place of abundance, health and beauty.

THE team at Basils Farm is passionate about using sustainable practices in their extensive kitchen and market gardens.

From modest beginnings, the edible gardens have been a labour of love, growing to become a key feature of the farm, supplying produce to the cafe and local businesses.

Set on the shores of Swan Bay near Queenscliff, Basils Farm, which is also home to vineyards, a café and cellar door, has run seasonal gardening workshops for a number of years.

Basils’ in-house gardening guru and farm manager Igor has helped many participants turn their own patch into a place of abundance, health and beauty.

On Saturday November 17, Basils will be running a new workshop for those wanting to ensure their garden thrives over the summer months.

During this workshop, participants will learn more about preparing their garden for summer,
what to plant, including natives and drought tolerant plants, nutrients composting and mulching, plus a comprehensive demonstration and discussion on irrigation and water saving strategies.

The “Get Ready for Summer” Gardening Workshop runs between 10am and noon, and costs $40 per person.
