The St Leonards Garden Club will host an open gardens day tomorrow (Saturday, October 29) as a fundraiser for the St Leonards Progress Association.

The Open Gardens Day is being held over the Melbourne Cup weekend, when St Leonards is expected to be packed with visitors.

There will be 16 diverse gardens opened, including two in Indented Head for people to explore.

Gardeners are invited to share their stories and discover new things, see what plants grow in the local area and find ideas for a new project.

The St Leonards Garden Club open gardens all have a relaxing atmosphere that will provide an enjoyable outing and promote community connections through gardening in our town.

Tomorrow’s community event has been made possible with support and sponsorship from businesses in the township and will rely entirely on volunteers.

The St Leonards Progress Association is a local group that owns and operates the St Leonards Memorial Hall on behalf of the community.

Tickets are $10 for adults (and free for children) and give an adult access to all gardens.

Purchase tickets on the day and pick up your open gardens list and map from the St Leonards Memorial Hall, Murradoc Road or at 64 Leviens Road, St Leonards. Cash only.

Gate attendants will welcome and check for tickets at the participating gardens.

The open gardens day will begin at 10am and run until 4pm.

Devonshire tea, plant stall and raffles will also be available at 64 Leviens Road (no ticket required).
