GEELONG’S Seniors Festival returns this month, packed with events designed to inspire, entertain, and connect the region’s older residents.

The annual festival offers the community a chance to come together to celebrate and recognise the achievements and contributions of senior citizens.

Greater Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said there was so much happening across the region this month.

Events include sports days, cycling, singing, dancing, films, pickleball and a special Tony Jones tribute show.

“The city is delighted to support the Geelong Seniors festival as part of our commitment to engage with seniors, promote social connection and improve mental health and wellbeing,” Cr Kontelj said.

“I encourage residents over 55 years, who make up approximately 30 percent of our region’s population, to book in their preferred events early to avoid disappointment.

Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt encouraged locals to get involved in the activities on offer.

“The Victorian Government is proud to deliver the annual Seniors Festival, a month-long celebration of the remarkable contributions older Victorians make to our state.

“We encourage all Victorians to get involved in this year’s Seniors Festival – check the online calendar on the government website or pick up a program guide at your local Coles or post office.”

Bookings are essential.
