Geelong Small Business Festival – connecting businesses in 2020

ONE of Australia’s best-known digital entrepreneurs Mia Freedman has been announced as the keynote speaker for the 2020 Geelong Small Business Festival.
The free event will take place online on September 3, during the first week of the festival, which runs from September 1-18.
Freedman, co-founder and chief creative officer of the Mamamia Women’s Media Company, will share her experience of building a media empire from home.
Mamamia’s core purpose as a business is to make the world a better place for women and girls.
The media platform has an audience of more than five million women each month and includes the largest women’s podcast network in the world with over 108 million listens and 36 different shows.
Before founding Mamamia as a blog in her lounge room in 2007 and becoming one of Australia’s best-known digital entrepreneurs, Mia was a magazine editor, national newspaper columnist, radio presenter, and TV host.
She was named one of Australia’s 100 Most Influential Women by the Financial Review and is a former chair of the federal government’s Body Image Advisory Board.
Mia is one of 40 online events planned during the Geelong Small Business Festival, which will provide an important opportunity for businesses to come together, learn from industry experts and build their networks.
The festival will focus on supporting and inspiring local businesses during challenging times.
Many of the events are free, and a variety of topics will be covered, including business essentials post COVID-19, marketing, social media and promoting your business online, starting a business, growing your business, sales and expanding your networks, career development – leading and managing people, health and wellbeing

“The festival is an important part of council’s ongoing commitment to supporting the 18,000 small businesses in Greater Geelong, as they play a key role in our region’s economic growth and success.”
