THE wait is finally over for the highly-anticipated Geelong City Market, debuting this Saturday with an impressive line-up of local producers.
The inaugural market will kick start a weekly celebration of food, creativity and community in Little Malop Street, bringing the embattled precinct to life.
Market directors Simon Toohey and Kieran Blood said the Geelong City Market is about reimagining how the community connects through food, music and shared creativity.
“This is a space for Geelong — made by locals, for locals. It’s about celebrating the people who grow, make and create the region’s best, every single week.”

More than 40 local producers will be involved in the first instalment of the market including Char City, Geelong Region Olives, Two Tins Patisserie, XO Project and Soli Farm.
The Local Geelong will be a sure highlight of the day with coffee, bread and community vibes. Provence Winery will showcase its Bellarine wines, while Mi Shell’s Seafood will bring fresh, local and sustainability caught seafood.
Mandy Stall will provide some hands-on inspiration throughout the day with a sauerkraut and fermentation masterclass at 10.30am, before Toohey steps into spring cooking with a demonstration at 12.30pm.
Live entertainment will kick off at 10am with local musician Lionel Baker. GRID Series alum Farah will follow at 11.30am.
The market will run every Saturday from 9am until 2pm.
