Get a taste of Shakespeare this weekend

AFTER a challenging 12 months of performance cancellations and lockdowns, OZACT is celebrating a return to brighter days with A Feast of Shakespeare in the Geelong Botanic Gardens this weekend.

A Feast of Shakespeare brings together four abridged classics from OZACT’s repertoire – Hamlet, Pericles, King Lear and The Tempest; a showcase of highly acclaimed productions of the company.

Established in 1995, the company is a favourite with audiences across Victoria, and beyond, for its productions of Shakespeare in wilderness, heritage and garden settings.

During this time the Geelong Botanic Gardens have become one of OZACT’s favourite locations, with its lush sweeping lawns, majestic trees, colourful floral displays providimg an ideal location to enjoy Shakespeare in the great outdoors.

Artistic Director Bruce Widdop invites both new comers and OZACT fans alike to sample this Shakespeare selection.

“This is Shakespeare for all tastes, with powerful acting, moving tragedy, tender romance, uproarious comedy and unearthly magic that is sure to satisfy in this most spectacular setting of Geelong Botanic Gardens,” he said.

OZACT comprises company members Bruce Widdop, Matt Young, Lisa Widdop, Sorcha Breen, Ryan Ireland, Eleanor Ruth, and Luke Ingram.

This production provides audiences the opportunity to enjoy some outdoor entertainment and social delights we have all been missing.
