LIVE music will again fill Anglesea Memorial Hall this month as The Sound Doctor returns with three new shows scheduled.

It’s been 491 days since the last performance after all tours were cancelled due to COVID-19.

Event founder Dr David Corbet said he was both excited and nervous about putting on a show after such a long hiatus but that he was looking forward to the atmosphere the show would create.

“It’s the community aspect of what we do that I love the most, it doesn’t happen without the audience, so they are just as important as the artists,” Dr Corbet said.

“It’s great to have live music happening again and to be able to put on high quality intimate shows.”

The line-up includes an eclectic mix of local and touring artists.

Thursday, March 18 sees C.W. Stoneking bring his blues sound and trademark twang to town for a sold-out show supported by Bellarine folk, country and blues powerhouse Nathan Seeckts.

Also sold-out is the March 20 show featuring Emma Donovan together with The Putbacks, with support from rising star Kee’ahn.

Tickets are still available to the March 19 show, which features singer-songwriter Jess Locke as well as Bones and Jones, a six-piece band whose members are from Geelong and the Surf Coast area.

In a sign of how much people have been looking forward to live events, the tickets not only sold out but sold out in record time.

“Our audience has been hanging out for it, two of the three shows sold out in the first 48 hours,” Dr Corbet said.

He said people should act quickly before the March 19 show sells out too.

“Don’t wait because they won’t last very long,” Dr Corbet said.

The Sound Doctor performances won’t be a case of dance like nobody’s watching.

Gigs are seated, and COVID marshals will be keeping an eye on the crowd, ensuring guests check in, sit with the group they book with and keep the appropriate social distance.

Dr Corbet said he hoped it wouldn’t be another 491 days until the next show, with more shows planned for June.
