Girls rule at first BIG4 Bellarine event
BIG4 Bellarine recently hosted their inaugural You Go Girl event, with 65 girls and women attending from across the state.
The intention of the weekend was to bring women together in a fun and supportive environment that allowed for quality time together with a general dose of silliness.
Owner Sophie Bone said it was important for women to find the space to spend time together – mothers and daughters or with a group of girlfriends – away from the rigours of daily life.
The weekend began with a hotly contested team bocce event with an array of food trucks catering for hungry participants.
A personal training session the morning of the great challenge meant that the girls were all warmed up and ready for the 14-obstacle challenge staged across the property.
Event organiser Sherryn Bennett said that at its core, the weekend was designed to reconnect women and provide a venue for them to interact, engage in the environment around them and move from activity to activity with a fabulous sense of freedom.
Awards for best-dressed team, determination, and most entertaining – among others – were accompanied with the message from Sophie encouraging women “to be bold, silly, strong, confident, independent and above all brave and real”.
Sophie reminded the group to be mindful of always offering a leg up to those facing adversity, because together, women can achieve more. A toast was proposed to strong women: “May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them”.
