Give Where You Live Foundation celebrates seven decades
THIS year, Geelong’s Give Where You Live Foundation marks a major milestone, celebrating 70 years of impact in the community.
First known as the Geelong and District Community Chest, the organisation was inaugurated at a public meeting on April 27, 1954.
The organisation has a long and proud history of creating change in the G21 region and as it marks 70 years, is reflecting on and celebrating its decades of impact, while also focussing on the future.
Although undergoing three name changes, the Give Where You Live Foundation has always been committed to improving the lives of those in need.
“The foundation’s 70th anniversary provides an opportunity for us to celebrate our contribution to the Geelong region and also highlight how we are working to create greater fairness and equity in our community into the future,” Give Where You Live Foundation chief executive officer Bill Mithen said.
The community has always been central to the foundation, with working to create a fairer community as important today as it’s ever been.
“In partnership with our community, we are committed to creating lasting change and ensuring that everyone in the region has the opportunity to thrive through a focus on food security, homelessness assistance, and inclusive employment.”
As the foundation celebrates 70 years, it will host a special anniversary event on November 13 from 6.30pm until 10pm.
Mr Mithen invites everyone to join in the celebration at Club Chin Chin as they honour the decades of impact the foundation has had in Geelong.
