Golfing pros swing into action at Port
AUSTRALIA’S big hitting golf stars will compete in the 8th Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro-Am at Portarlington Golf Club next week.
Chief executive officer Ron Stockdale said the event was a great chance for spectators to get up close and personal to the professional players, in a relaxed atmosphere.
“We have a marquee set up with drinks and snacks available on the course, as well as a local wine tasting tent, courtesy of Bellarine Estate.
“We urge you to bring along your picnic chairs and make a day of it.”
Last year’s event was won in a four-way tussle between Antonio Murcada, Matthew Perry, Luke Hickman and Brad Moules, with terrific scores of 66.
Three of them are returning this year to battle it out, along with favourites Michael Choi (the course record holder), Jack Wilson and Ryan Haywood.
The Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro-Am continues to build on the momentum of the past seven years, with the Pro-Am winning the PGA Regional Course of the Year twice and the PGA Regional Pro-Am of the Year.
Amateur entries filled for the events in a recordbreaking 14 days, which indicates the popularity of the event.
Barwon Cleaning Supplies have been the Naming Rights Sponsor since the event’s inception in 2012 and continues to offer great prizes for the event, including top of the range pressure washers for those lucky enough to get nearest the pins.
For those not golfing, there is also a chance to win a TORO lawn mower that is being raffled off on the day.
“The Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro-Am has plenty to offer everyone and we look forward to welcoming spectators to our award-winning course, facilities and of course to see the big hitting stars,” he said.
The Barwon Cleaning Supplies Pro-Am will be held on Tuesday, February 12.
